I really enjoyed 'The Blue Death'. It was very interesting and I learnt a lot about how bad conditions were around 1836. The book is about a young man aged twenty-three years old, named John Snow who travelled to London to become a doctor. The cholera epidemic had died out before John Snow arrived but it was to return. In 1838 John Snow passed his exams and became a doctor, he set up a medical practice at 54 Frith Street. As the years went on Snow became very interested in using ether as an anaesthetic and invented his own inhaler. He also wrote two books, 'On the Mode of Communication of Cholera' and 'On Chloroform and Other Anaesthetics'. John Snow was also a great help in the cholera epidemic and helped to discover the sewage underneath the pump in Broad Street which had caused many deaths. John died in 1858 and there is a memorial in Broad Street today. John Snow was a very great help to science.
