I was a rat!
By Phillip Pullman.

Bob and his wife Joan lived in a house by the market. One night they got a chap at the door and there was a little boy standing there in a pages outfit and all he could say was 'I was a rat.'So they took him in and gave him bread and milk but had to teach him how to use a spoon. They also had to let him stay for the night and they asked him his name and he said he did not have a name so they called him roger. When they woke up all of the covers, sheets, and pilllows were ripped up and torn. They went to a child help office and they said he should try an orphanage at the other town, hospital or school so they went to the orphanage but its windows were all smashed and it was all dark and he could hear screaming so they left the orphanage. They went to they hospital and the doctor said he is defienetly a boy not a rat. So they take him to school. Does he enjoy it ?
