The book I have recently read is called 'Scarlet' by Cathy Cassidy. It was about a girl who kept getting into trouble in school, and because she kept getting into trouble her mum kept sending her away to other members of the family. She started getting into trouble when her dad walked out on her and her mum. It soon came to the point when she had to move to her dad's house in Ireland, she didn't fit in at first but she soon got used to it, she also met a boy called Kian, they spent nearly every day together.
I really enjoyed this boo, it is my favourite book so far. My favourite character is Kian because he sounds like he believed in magic and he tells Scarlett lovely stories about Ireland and the lough, where they met every day. My favourite event was when Clare fell from the ladder and went into labour.
I think this book is suitable for 13-year-olds or older because it islike a kind of love story. I think that people who like books with a happy-ending at the end of themwould really like it.

The book I have read is "Driftwood" by Cathy Cassidy. Hannah Murray and Joey Donavon are best friends. Joey is very wacky int he way she dresses and is quite bold in character. Joey and her little brother are fostered by Jed and Eva and live by the sea in a cottage. When Paul comes to stay with Joey's family Hannah soon finds out that he is very bartistic and a little different from other people. Kit, Hannah's big brother, really likes Joey and eventually they become boyfriend and girlfriend but as gets to know Paul he starts to dislike him more and more. As Joey now goes around with Kit all the time, Hannah is left alone and goes around with Paul and also plays with 'Krusty' (one of the three kittens they find at the beginning). Paul starts to get bullied more and more and doesn't do anything to help the situation. He dies his hair green, wears black eyeliner, gets a stripy pink bicycle and puts his hair into plaits. When Hannah sees Paul being bullied severely by Kit and his mates it's the last straw, she tells Joey and she dumps Kit. Paul runs away but Hannah finds him and Paul is sent back to the foster home. One day Hannah is on the beach and sees Paul who is now fine and has come to stay.
