Level 3 - J. R. R. Tolkien

This is the space for submitting reviews of J. R. R. Tolkien’s books (just click on ‘Comments’).

J. R. R. Tolkien was born in 1892 in South Africa. He moved to England when he was a child. He served as a soldier in World War One, but returned home an invalid after suffering from trench fever. While recovering from illness he began to write his earliest stories. He became a professor at Oxford University and while there he wrote The Hobbit then Lord of the Rings, finishing it in 1948. His books did not become popular until the 1960s and 70s, when they became very popular with hippies!

There are lots of websites dedicated to Tolkien but the official one is www.tolkienestate.com.

The Library has all of the Lord of the Rings books, as well as The Hobbit and The Silmarillion.

This book is about a young hobbit trying to destroy a magic ring. This book is good for teenagers
because there is some words in it that people might not understand. This book is good because I use to like Lord of the Rings. My favourite character is
Arangon. He is my favorite character because he has alot of action scenes in the book. This book also has some clues in it to what the next book is about and it has some info on what the start of the first book is about.I think this book has also got some violence in it so that is why I think it is suitable for teenagers and adults.I can't wait to read the next book and find out how Frodo is going to destroy the ring and if good or bad will have victory.
